Hark! What movie doth come before mine eyes?
Tis “Event Horizon,” a tale of space and surprise.
Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, a master behind the screen,
It brings together horror and sci-fi, a sight to be seen.
The story revolves around a ship, lost for seven years in space.
Called the Event Horizon, it has returned to its place,
But things are not as they seem, for something dark and sinister lurks within,
And the crew that boarded it soon find themselves in quite a spin.
We’re introduced first to Dr. Weir, played by Sam Neill,
Who designed the ship and is haunted by its reveal.
He joins Captain Miller, played by Laurence Fishburne,
And a ragtag crew whose mission takes an unexpected turn.
The Event Horizon’s mission was to test a new propulsion drive,
A device capable of bending space and time to arrive
At distant worlds quickly, without travel in-between,
But the drive was experimental, and it brought something obscene.
As the crew explores the haunted vessel,
They begin to uncover clues that settle
The fact that some terrible event happened there
And that whatever evil occurred still lingers in the air.
Soon after their arrival aboard this ghostly ship,
Strange things began happening that caused them all to flip.

The special effects are impressive and well worth noting
From the set design to the makeup, everything is roting.
The costumes are dark and eerie, perfectly fitting
For a movie this intense, unsettling, and chilling.
Despite its solid cast-ensemble which shines bright like a star,
Event Horizon failed to make a splash at the box office radar.
Critics were harsh on Anderson’s vision and direction,
Although looking back now, it deserves more affection.
